Description

The Venn 470 S is the most direct way onto a Venn carbon road disc wheelset. Its 470 TCD SL rims are 47mm deep, 22.5mm wide inside and 28mm outside, for 25mm to 35mm tires, laced with Pillar PSR 1420 stainless bladed spokes, 24 front and rear, to Venn RH05SL ratchet hubs on sealed steel bearings, for 1290g. The rims carry no clear coat, in gloss, matte or 25k filament wound. Each wheelset is built to order.

ALL-ROUND AERO DEPTH

Forty-seven millimetres is deep enough to save real effort at speed and shallow enough that a gust does not decide your line. It is the one-wheelset answer for riders who race, train and ride fast group rides on the same pair. The 28mm external width suits a 25mm to 28mm tire aerodynamically, and the 22.5mm internal bed supports up to 35mm when comfort matters more than the last watt.

RATCHET HUBS ON SEALED STEEL BEARINGS

The Venn RH05SL hub engages through a ratchet across the full tooth face rather than through a pair of pawls, so power goes in the moment you load the pedals. It turns on sealed steel bearings, two in the front hub and four in the rear, which any bike shop can replace, on 7075-T6 aluminium axles in 6061-T6 aluminium bodies. Center Lock rotor mount, 100mm front and 142mm rear hub spacing, with a Shimano HG, SRAM XDR or Campagnolo N3W freehub.

UNCOATED FINISH, YOUR CHOICE

The 470 S carries no clear coat, whichever surface you choose: gloss, matte, or the 25k filament-wound pattern. Leaving the coating off keeps weight off the rim perimeter, where it costs the most in rotational inertia, and it leaves the quality of the underlying carbon structure on open display with nowhere to hide. Gloss and matte weigh the same; the 25k filament-wound surface adds 25 g per rim. All three cost the same.

Pillar PSR 1420 Spokes

Stainless steel bladed spokes, 24 in each wheel. Steel takes a sudden load in its stride, the bladed section cuts through the air and resists wind-up while the wheel is brought to tension, and any bike shop in the world can true the wheel or replace a spoke.

Rim Profile

The 470 TCD SL rim is 47mm deep and weighs about 395g, made with our 1k filament winding process. Its 28mm external and 22.5mm internal widths give a 25mm to 35mm tire a smooth transition from tire to rim and enough support to run it at comfortable pressures.

The 470 C SL saves 70g with 20 / 24 carbon aero blade spokes and S&S ceramic bearings, for 1220g. Take the S for value and spokes any shop can service, and the C SL for the lighter set.

This is the disc brake 470 S, with Center Lock rotor mounts and thru axles. The rim brake 470 S uses the 470 TCC SL rim with a 3D brake track and quick release hubs.
