General Questions
What are Venn Wheels?
Where are Venn Wheels made?
Venn made the first filament wound bicycle rims and held granted patents for the method (TW I607894 and TW I634964). Every Venn rim is made to the ETRTO standard, every rim model must pass Venn's impact test, and customer feedback goes straight back into production. The rims are made in China, and today most wheels are built and shipped from there too. China is not the only place: partner wheel builders in other countries also build wheels on Venn rims. Venn Helix-01 hubs are made in Taiwan.
What is filament winding technology?
Filament winding winds continuous carbon fiber onto a turning mandrel under machine control. Venn's team used it to make the first filament wound bicycle rims in 2015. Today's rims are molded in articulated, multi-part tooling, from layup preformed to net shape.
Products
What type of carbon fiber do you use?
We use a blend of Toray T700/T800 and T1100 carbon fibers: T700 for impact resistance, T800 for high strength and stiffness, and T1100 for the highest tensile strength. The specific blend and layup schedule are optimized for each wheel model.
Are your wheels tubeless compatible?
Yes, all Venn wheels are tubeless-ready (ETRTO compliant) and ship with tubeless tape and valves included for easy setup. We recommend using tubeless tires for optimal performance and puncture resistance.
Which rotor mount do your disc brake wheels use?
Center Lock. Every Venn disc brake wheelset uses Center Lock hubs; 6-bolt is not offered.
Do you sell rims on their own?
Yes. Venn rims are sold on their own on our other website, venn-cycling.com.
What is the maximum tire pressure for Venn wheels?
Maximum tire pressure depends on the specific rim model and tire width. Always refer to the markings on your rim and tire. Generally, for road tubeless, pressures are lower than traditional clinchers. Do not exceed the maximum pressure indicated on either the tire or the rim.
