Molded, inspected and built under one roof.

Precision tooling, controlled curing and expert craftsmanship.

The winding machine, 2023. In 2015 our team made the first filament wound bicycle rims; the method has moved on.

01

Molded for a flawless wall

Run your hand along a Venn rim: smooth, even, and no clear coat hiding anything. That surface is the last thing the process makes, not something added at the end to cover it up.

It starts with articulated, multi-part tooling, the kind aerospace relies on and rim making rarely does, and a mold surface finished to an exacting standard. The carbon goes in preformed to net shape, so nothing is left to chance, and every cure runs under controlled pressure and temperature. What comes out is a fully compacted wall, virtually free of voids: light, strong, and the same rim every time.

Then we prove it. Every Venn rim model passes our impact test, 100 J for road and gravel and up to 150 J for downhill, where the UCI asks 40 J. Every rim is checked before it ships, and on 29-inch and 700c rims its weight stays within 15 g of what we list.

Precise fiber orientation for optimal strength.
Uniform stiffness for lasting wheel trueness.
A fully compacted wall, virtually free of voids.
Maximal durability and performance consistency.

PLC controlled molding

Venn carbon rim molding press

Cure held at ±1 °C and ±0.1 bar, start to finish.

A PLC controlled molding process using high tolerance molds with a specially treated surface, with layup preparation in a clean room environment to eliminate surface and layup imperfections. Temperature and pressure are held precisely through the entire curing cycle, ensuring:

Uniform resin distribution for material consistency.
Elimination of voids and inconsistencies for structural integrity.
Perfect fiber-to-resin ratio for optimal weight and strength.
Consistent wall thickness for predictable performance.

Six quality checkpoints

Every wheel passes multiple quality-control checks through the manufacturing process, from raw material batch to the finished, laced wheel.

Check 01

Material inspection

Pre-preg carbon fiber validation and batch testing.

Check 02

Layup verification

Laser projection systems ensure accurate fiber placement.

Check 03

Cure monitoring

Real-time tracking of temperature and pressure cycles.

Check 04

Dimensional inspection

Post-cure checks against precise geometric tolerances.

Check 05

Surface finish QC

Inspection for cosmetic perfection and structural integrity.

Check 06

Final assembly check

Verification of spoke tension, trueness, and balance.

Venn rim laminate micrograph from quality control

Laminate micrograph. Void-free walls, documented per batch.

04

Precision assembly

Wheel assembly combines precision machinery with the oversight of skilled technicians:

Machine-assisted lacing of the spokes through the hub.
Every spoke's tension measured with a digital tension meter, for uniformity.
Tensioned and trued by hand from zero tension by expert wheel builders.
Dynamic balance testing for smooth rolling performance.
